NewsIPV Adds Advanced Management & Control Tools to its Browse Solutions at IBC 2009
Cambridge, UK, August 20, 2009
IPV, a global leader and largest independent supplier
of low bit-rate, frame-accurate video technology to
the broadcast and professional video sectors, will
showcase its new management and control tools for its
Curator and SpectreView systems at IBC in Amsterdam
next month (Stand no. 8.B67, 11-15 September 2009)
including a new Process Engine and the XCode Manager
Service.
IPV's new Process Engine will bring advanced control
for proxy and metadata ingest, device management and
metadata services. Administered through a System Administrator's
console, the Process Engine enables rules to be defined
such as job priority management and completion notification
such as SMS and email support. This is managed via
a simple and effective graphical drag and drop interface.
Devices are monitored, and actions assigned, whether
to automate the pipeline or to provide notification
of system alarms.
Also making its debut at IBC will be IPV's XCode Manager
Service. The XCode engine is tuned to provide SpectreView
compliant browse proxies with precise frame accuracy
and metadata extraction and generation, including scene
change analysis and storyboarding. IPV's XCode Manager
ensures that multiple devices can be controlled and
managed in a group or pool. The service allows advanced
job allocation, load management and priority decisions
based on customer requirements. Device assignment,
job management and rules based processes are scripted
in Curator's System Administrator Console or controlled
directly though a web serviced based API.
"Renowned worldwide, our solutions have enabled
broadcasters to provide a cost-efficient means of sharing
and managing content in a file-based workflow environment,"
said Nigel Booth, Executive Vice President for Sales
and Marketing at IPV. "These introductions at
IBC 2009 will further support our customers in their
move to reduce costs while increasing productivity
and building a return on their investment."
The Curator system is an affordable, proxy-based tapeless
workflow environment running on both PC and Apple®
Mac platforms, that is designed to allow communities
of media professionals to add value to their content
and efficiently fulfil tasks such as desktop editing
media annotation, review and approve and general media
browsing. It is a complete solution that can efficiently
ingest, encode or transcode, at low bit-rate, proxy
SDI or file-based media, which can then be used concurrently
by multiple users. Whatever the source of the material,
the Curator version is guaranteed to be frame accurate
at all times giving an unprecedented desktop experience.
Tools included in the system include shot change detection,
closed caption overlays, handling of multiple audio
tracks, speeding tasks such as scene by scene transcription,
review and approval and metadata preparation.
IPV's SpectreView browse solution is seen by many as
the de facto standard for browse resolution systems,
SpectreView is implemented by a large number of manufacturers
of playout automation, newsrooms, asset management
and access services. Key to its success is the incorporation
of precision timecode and frame accuracy. This coupled
with its advanced streaming server ensures an unprecedented
user experience providing a VTR-like performance at
the desktop. Content can be encoded using a low bit-rate
codec, originally MPEG-1, now MPEG-4 and Windows Media
9, and be accessed by multiple devices on standard
computers, even when precise timecode control is critical.
About IPVFounded in 1997, IPV is the industry
leader in timecode-enabled browse technology, delivering
the ability to ingest, compress and encode video content
and push it to multiple users in parallel for fast,
easy capture, storage, editorial decision-making and
manipulation. The SpectreView product suite is based
on a mix of standards-based technologies developed
and manipulated to deliver leading-edge, value-added
solutions. IPV’s technology is used by more than 500
broadcast sites worldwide and has proven itself to
be rugged, reliable and scalable in use. Additional
