NewsIPV Appoints Magna Systems to Support Business Growth in South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand
Cambridge, UK, 28 May 2010
IPV, a global leader and largest independent supplier
of media, metadata and low bitrate, frame-accurate
video technology to the broadcast and professional
video sectors, has appointed Magna Systems & Engineering
as its distributor to expand its business in South
East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. IPV will be
exhibiting with Magna Systems at Broadcast Asia next
month on stand 7D2-01 (Singapore, 15-18 June 2010).
This distribution agreement will allow Magna Systems
to promote and sell IPV’s entire product range across
this region. Products from IPV include its leading
Curator system, a comprehensive, browse-based tapeless
workflow media system that enables communities of media
professionals to add value to their content; the company's
recently introduced Teragator data aggregation engine
— a powerful tool that provides a platform to aggregate
disparate metadata sources and data mining services
to identify and manage complex relational links between
assets; its SpectreView system — the de facto standard
for browse resolution systems; as well as the company’s
Process Engine which facilitates the automation of
multiple media workflows.
"IPV has a very strong global reputation for providing
reliable, state-of-the-art, browse solutions to the
broadcast industry and its expanded product range offers
the breadth of solutions needed in today’s file-based
environments," said David Bowers, Chief Executive
Officer of Magna Systems & Engineering. "Key
to IPV’s success has been its ability to provide comprehensive
browse solutions that enable multiple users to access
and share low resolution content — and we see an opportunity
to considerably grow their business in this region."
With over 40 years in the industry Magna Systems &
Engineering has successfully worked with leading broadcasters
and telecommunications companies to build complete
networks, playout centres and turnkey solutions. Magna
Systems offers a high level of technical expertise
with the company providing the sale and support of
point products and an entire systems integration service
for turnkey installations.
"Magna brings a wealth of experience to IPV from
it four decades of operation in this market and we
are delighted to be working with them across S.E. Asia
as their knowledge and understanding of the region
will be instrumental to successfully positioning IPV
in this market," said Nigel Booth, EVP Sales and
Marketing at IPV. "We have made reasonable market
penetration in this region including installations
at TVB and Hong Kong Cable and most recently ESPN STAR
Sports (ESS) in Singapore — but the appointment of
Magna as our partner in the region will play a significant
role in extending our visibility and furthering our
reach into this market."
